There have not been many decal sheets for post-war P/F-51 Mustangs, so this sheet from Printscale (72-300) is welcome - featuring a number of Korean War aircraft including 3 USAF ones:

  • F-51D-25-NA 44-73770 from the 40th FIS, 35th FBG at Pusan West AB (K-1) during spring 1951. This carried an olive drab anti-glare panel, red spinner and upper forward fin and a red stripe on the rear fuselage;
  • F-51D-30-NA 44-74840 from the 12th FBS, 18th FBG at Hoengsong AB (K-46) in Autumn 1952. It had a black anti-glare panel and upper fuselage, yellow spinner, wing tips and fin tip and also carried a large red and white shark mouth;
  • F-51D-30-NA 44-74941 "Buckeye Blitz IV" from the 36th FBS, 8th FBW at Taegu AB, South Korea in 1953. It had a black anti-glare panel and upper fuselage with red pin-striping. The spinner, wingtips and fintip were gloss red, togerhet with a red stripe on the rear fuselage. "BUCKEYE BLITZ IV" was in red on the nose with the 36th FBS logo in yellow and black.

Instructions comprise a side view of each aircraft, plus stencil drawings. The decals are matt but should settle down well.
