Microscale Decals sheet 72-306 provides markings for 3 different F-101Bs. The aircraft featured are:

  • F-101B-90-MC 57-326 from the 444th FIS. This carried a green tail band on the lower fin containing a yellow lightning bolt with the squadron badge on the port side and the ADC badge on the starboard side. This aircraft is also depicted with green and yellow bands on the upper fuselage, although photographs show these outlined in black, which the decals do not provide. "FB-326" buzz numbers were carried on the lower rear fuselage;
  • F-101B-100-MC 57-431 from the 61st FIS. Large yellow/black striped fin flash containing the squadron badge (port) and ADC badge (starboard). It carried yellow/black bands on the rear fuselage with a red/white vertically striped rudder and black "FB-431" buzz numbers;
  • F-101F-106-MC (incorrectly noted as an F-101B) 58-0262 "FB-262" from the 4780th TS at Eglin AFB, Florida. This wore a thick blue fin band with a superimposed yellow lightning bolt and a white chevron outlined in white  and containing the squadron badge (port) and ADC badge (starboard).

All three aircraft were painted overall Air Defence Command Grey (FS36473).

This is one of the original Microscale sheets and is thus not to current standards. Instructions comprise a two-sided A5 sheet with a right-side drawing of each aircraft, a left-side view showing stencilling and an underside view showing the location of the "buzz numbers". No stencilling instructions are provided for the right side or for the upper and lower surfaces.

The decals themselves are thin, but there are several errors. Firstly, the "USAF" and "U.S. AIR FORCE" markings are black where they should be Insignia Blue. Secondly, the style of lettering used for the "buzz numbers" and tail codes is too thin. These decals would beneft from being replaced from the spares box.
