Decal Sheet ID 72-042
Decal Sheet Title "Fade to Grey"
Types Featured F-16C, AV-8B+, A-4M, C-27J, S-3B

Grey aircraft do not necessarily have to be dull, and Wolfpak have chosen a variety of types to demonstrate this, including the F-16C Wing aircraft from the 93rd FS "Makos" as well as a number of US Navy and Marine Corps types.

The specific airframes featured are:-

  • F-16C-30H 87-0290 "FM" from the 93rd FS, 482nd FW based at Homestead AFB during July 2010. This aircraft carried the standard 2 tone grey scheme (FS36118 over FS36270) but had a black fun, rudder, lower "skegs", stabilerons, wingtip launch rails, intake lip and canopy. Over this was a large shark in grey on the fin, black/white chequers to the lower fin and intake trunking and "HOMESTEAD" in black on a white fin band. Additionally, the wing tanks and travel pod were black, the wing tanks having white chequers with "482 FW" on their outsides and the travel pod having "Makos" on its right hand side;
  • AV-8B+(R)-26-MC BuNo 165421 from VMA-214 "Blacksheep" during Spring 2010;
  • A-4M BuNo 160027 from VMA-214 "Blacksheep" during November 1983;
  • S-3B BuNo 160581 from VX-30 during November 2010; and
  • C-27J 27014 (note this is the manufacturer's number not the US serial number) from the 179th AW based at Mansfield Lahm Airport, Ohio during September 2010, in an overall light grey similar to Light Compass Ghost Grey (FS36375) with US Army markings

Instructions follow the standard for Wolfpak - a single side view of each aircraft in color, small black and white camouflage schemes and detailed history and modelling notes for each aircraft.The sheet is printed by Fantasy Printshop and is in perfect register - the white is actually opaque enough to apply over black as well!

All in all, a sheet with a limited number of subjects, but one great scheme for USAF modellers!
