Iliad Design sheet 72016 provides markings for three C-47s used during the Berlin Airlift. These are as follows:-

  • C-47A-80-DL 43-15208 "The Fassberg Flyer". This carried a very faded Olive Drab scheme with various panels touched up. It carried 'FASSBERG - "FLYER"' in red on a white panel on both the port forward fuselage (above the windows) and starboard (below thw windows) and the remains of the number "9" in white behind the cockpit. "UNITED STATES AIR FORCE" was in yellow on a fresh Olive Drab panel on the starboard fuselage  "315208" was carried in yellow on the fin. Undersides were Neutral Gray and all control surfaces were doped aluminium;
  • C-47A-90-DL 43-15672 at Tempelhof during 1948. This carried a faded Olive Drab scheme with Neutral Gray undersurfaces. It carried "52" in yellow behind the cockpit and "315672" on the fin. The fin tip carried broad black/yellow/black/yellow stripes;
  • C-47A-25-DK 42-93708 from the European Air Transport Service, in an unpainted overall dull natural metal scheme with doped aluminium control surfaces. It had red cowlings and a fin band and markings were in black. It carried an EATS logo on the left nose and "EUROPEAN AIR TRANSPORT SERVICE" in red on the fuselage above the windows.

The decal sheet provides ony the major individual markings, so stencils etc will need to come from the donor kit. The decals are in perfect register and are relatively thin.

Instructions comprise a two-sided A4 sheet with a side view for each aircraft and upper/lower schemes. No FS references are provided, but these can be obtained from other sources.

A useful sheet for an interesting subject!
