This is, to say the least, a
much awaited sheet! The 18th AS has now
taken on an Aggressor role, and are in the process
of painting up their F-16C in 3 schemes. One of
them is entirely new and is know as “Advanced
Flanker”, being 3 tone (grey/grey/black).
Currently, this is the only
sheet available in 1/72nd scale and I had
been waiting for it for some time. Consequently, I
had an F-16C painted and ready to go when the decals
arrived!
For various reasons, the
aircraft at Eilson have been repainted a number of
times, and Two Bobs have chosen their sheet to
depict the aircraft as they will appear when
repainted and remarked.
The sheet contains markings for
4 airframes, as follows:-
·
F-16C 86-314 “AK” “354 FW” with bort
no 14 – the tailcode is in grey outlined in white;
·
F-16C 86-290 “AK” “18 AGRS” with bort
no 90 – again, the tailcode and markings are grey
outlined in white;
·
F-16C 86-268 “AK” with bort no 68 – in
this case the tail code and markings are white;
·
F-16C 86-305 “AK” with bort no 05 –
again, the tail code and markings are white.
Two Bobs provide complete
stencils for all four aircraft, including 2 complete
sets of grey walkway markings (note that only 2 of
the aircraft use these, the remaining 2 have shorter
black markings).
My only negative comment is
that, whilst TB provide full color stencilling
instructions, it is very difficult to see where the
walkway markings go, complicated further as the
markings are not numbered! However, this is only a
minor issue and easily resolved.
The decals are extremely thin,
and having used them on my F-16C, I can confirm that
they go on well and have virtually no visible
carrier film.
So all in all, a very nice
sheet, and very much appreciated!
