This kit represents O-2A 68-10866 in
June 1986 before retirement to AMARC at Davis-Monthan AFB
when with the 549th Tactical Air Support
Training Squadron based at Patrick AFB Florida. This
particular aircraft managed to escape from AMARC to join the
civil fleet register as N87534.
It is painted in the Euro 1 scheme at
Haydn’s request for the 2007 display.
The kit is a generic Skymaster kit by
ARII, with an extra right fuselage half for the civil
version. The cockpit is fairly basic with 4 seats, which I
used only 2 of, as it is listed as a 2 seater. The overall
fit is reasonable, although the transparent parts are not
very good, especially the windscreen. I polished the
windscreen with very fine grade wet and dry and dipped it
with kleer to improve it. The gaps were filled with Micro
Kristal Klear. The markings were obtained from spares. |
