"Rolling Thunder" Mongram F-105D Diorama
« on: January 22, 2015, 08:48:04 PM »
This is the 1/72 Monogram F-105D diorama I built 20 or so years ago.  I've always loved the Thud and I wanted to do something with it that was post Nam to show what a long lived plane she really was.  This represents a Virgina Guard aircraft during a 'live fire' exercise.  There are Hasegawa ground crew and accessries as well as a Verlinden revetment section for the Bomb Pit.  I used photos of the actual aircraft (this is the F-105D that belongs to the Pima Air Museum) as well as numerous photo sources for the right 'feel' for the scene.  I'll work on geting some sharper photos of it for a future post. Hope you enjoy it.

Always liked the THUD, good job.  I remember Verlinen did a diorama of one but it had several problems, like having a recip engine sitting in the reventment and putting the job names of the maint. personnel on the back of their shirts like the navy does.
