My Father's things
« on: July 05, 2014, 03:37:55 AM »
I managed to acquire from my Father a ash tray that he managed to hold on to It's a bit thick, about 1/8th of an inch and made of cheap metal.

The board that has my Father's stripes, medals and other things was in the possession of my oldest brother but one day it fell off his wall so he just folded it up, stuffed it into a large shipping envelope and sent it to me.

The dog tage were interesting because not only do they show the usual information but one of them also shows his home address.  From what I hear this not overly smart idea didn't last long and new ones were eventually issued.  I also have his flight suit and hat as well as the squadron patch he designed for the 60th Fighter Squadron.  This shows the 1980s version but I do have a WWII version and when we get around to putting the display into a better frame, the original will go into it.

Rather than starting another topic, here's my dress blue jacket:

and the web belt and equipment setup I most often used in S.E.A.

The only thing missing would be the pouch for the portable radio we all carried and the pouch for our handcuffs.
