phantom from the ashes
« on: October 29, 2012, 12:13:48 AM »
i fancied doing a quick build of a "hard wing" F-4E in the sea theater and found this tired old F-4EJ
luckily im pretty sick of the sight of it so decided to give it a new lease of life..

the fin cap needed changing so a quick cut n shut..

found some ancient modelmaster acryl that hadnt gone off..

thought id try something different since i seem to have lost my touch with decals completely, tail code to be stencelled as per the original..

worked out better than expected, going to be a challenge to cut the serial number out without loosing any fingers tho!
and before i get birched im doing the weasles too, was a bit of a challenge getting my membership for smw but i think ive sorted it (fingers crossed)
am i old enough to post yet?......

Nice rework !

Just drop me a line if you need any decals - saves cutting your fingers off !

Cheers,

Haydn.

making a mask for the serial was a bit more problematic.. doing it at work probably didnt help  :D

Turned out nice Paul - but the offer of decals still stands for the next one !
Nice looking revetments too - what are they made from ?

thanks boss  ;D next one im going to try and start glossy with gunze paints and then decal with matt/satin over the top.
revetments are made from a number of "wills" railway kits (ss mp 225) you need a fair few of them but its simple modelling, i shall fill the tops with fine gravel/pva at some point.
