It's all over !

Another Scale Model World over ! The weekend simply flies by in a blur of models, displays, trade stands and old friends! We were able to get the display set up by late Friday afternoon leaving room for Alex's much anticipated Korean War airbase diorama to arrive from Germany. Alex just managed to get into the hall on the Friday evening and set up his stuff after a long hard drive. Well done that man! (Meanwhile we heroes were tucking into an excellent carvery meal and beer).

The diorama proved to be a big hit along with General Melchetts (Andy Davies) B-70. A very welcome return was made by the "Men in Black" - Bill, Barry and Jim from the IPMS Pittsburgh Three Rivers chapter who brought with them the wonderful gift of Jeremiah Weed. We in turn presented them with spotted dicks and an evenings entertainment in the manner of genteel English gentlemen or Wetherspoons as we call it. Back too for a flying visit was Adrian Davies now a resident of New York - oooh he's changed! He is into RAF Second World War bombers now!

Models for our display were provided by Chris St Clair, Alex Hunger, Graham Bullock, Phil Butler, Paul Guppy, Ted Bayliss, Andy Davies (General Melchett), Trevor Williams (Howard of Effingham), Julien Dixon, and Paul 'Susan' Irving (who proved to be something of an unwelcome intruder !  ;D). Unfortunately Ted and Paul Guppy couldn't actually make it to Telford due to work commitments and they were missed.

Paul 'Susan' Irving and myself had an enjoyable stint working in the Kit swap on the Saturday afternoon (helped by a bottle of Jeremiah Weed) and Chris joined me for another stint on the Sunday.

Some shopping was done, I picked up the new Revell B-17G along with C-141 Starlifter in Action by John Burford, Lockheed Blackbird Family photo scrapbook by Tony R Landis and USAF Special Operations Command by Rick L Linares & Andy Evans. Amongst Chris's haul was the new Italeri C-27J (which looks absolutely fantastic) and what was probably the only Revell 1/72 F-105D at the show and at a bargain price.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks to Shelley Rowe who put a lot of effort into providing the graphics for our Victor Alert display and Chris St Clair for his hard work in setting up and breaking down the display despite only having one good arm at the moment!

Sead (that's a clue by the way) you all at Telford next year.

Pictures to follow.

Cheers,

Haydn.
