I will be starting to upload some
more Order of Battle pages and pics over the
next month as I am photographing my way through
my collection. First to come will be the
remainder of the 5 F-5E's I completed recently,
followed by the TG-10C and U-28 which I have
just finished.

We hit the magic "2000" views today!
12th November 2007
Well, what can I say... The Nationals are
over, and what a fantastic weekend it was. Our display
space swelled from the promised 48'x4' to approximately
54'x6' - and we STILL filled it and had models in boxes we
didn't have room for! Our smallest model - Mike
Robson's Bede BD-5, our largest - Bob Gamble's C-5A!
Oldest - probably Phil Butler's F-47's, the newest - Ted
Bayliss's C-130J. I believe we had around 350 models
on the display in all! See the gallery
here.
So... what now... Well plans are already
in hand for 2008 as we are helping the F4 SIG with their
task of putting 520 Phantom models on display!
2nd November 2007
Only 5 days ago I commented that we'd
passed 1000 views on the website - in the last WEEK we've
had over 600! Fantastic stuff... We'll be working to
add content after the Nationals next weekend!
For those who aren't aware, we are in HALL
3 at Telford, at the side of the competition display.
Come and say hello!
28th October 2007
More SMW info - I've posted the timetable in the forum -
thread
here. And did anyone notice we hit the magic 1000
for website views a couple of days ago?!
23rd October 2007
We now have the details of where the SIG will be located
for the Nationals - check out the floorplan
here. We have tables 13-20 (i.e. a 48'x4' run) and the
F-4 SIG has tables 11-12.
16th October 2007
In preparation for our USAF 60th display at Scale
Modelworld, I've started to update the Order of
Battle spreadsheet. We now have a column for "era" so
that you can see not only which models we have for the
display, but what era of the USAF's history they relate to.
The plan is that this will help with the layout of the
display - stay tuned to the website and the forum as we will
post more information when available. I've also
updated my personal page with an update as to what I'm
working on and progress - check out my page
here.
10th October 2007
The Order of
Battle spreadsheet has been updated, with a more
complete list of designations for Russian aircraft flown by
the USAF.
9th October 2007
Admittedly slow progress, but I've uploaded another SIG
newsletter, this being
1990-5 with a nice article on the Grey Ghost A-7D.
Ted Bayliss has provided another model for the Order Of
Battle, this time his
HU-19B.
30th September 2007
There seems to be an explosion of interest in the SIG
website - last week we were at 300 hits and tonight it looks
like hitting 600! The forum is now growing and we have
15 live members as of tonight! Fantastic start and I
hope it continues! I will be working on the links
pages over the next week, as I have loads of personal ones
to add, and I would like this to become a repository where
people can come to search for USAF information.
29th September 2007
After much deliberation, planning and development
(hmmm...) we are pleased to announce that the IPMS UK USAF
SIG forum is now LIVE! The intention is that it be a
place where ALL modellers can come together to share
information about anything US Air Force related (that does
of course include ANG, AFRES, Space Command, vehicles,
trains, equipment, hangars, revetments and anything else you
can think of!.
The forum can be accessed here
or through the link at top. The SIG Yahoo Group will
be discontinued once everyone has moved over to the forum.
NOTE:- When your account has been activated you MUST go
into your profile and change your "Name" to your real name
(first name and last name). If you do not do this,
your account will be deleted 7 days after being activated!
I've also uploaded another show gallery, this time the
2006 Huddersfield show.
27th September 2007
Two more show galleries - this time the
2005 East Midlands Model show
and the
2005 Scale Modelworld show at Telford. I've also
started to populate the "Links" section. If you have
any recommendations, please let me know! Email me at
webmaster@usaf-sig.org.
26th September 2007
I've uploaded the first show gallery - this one
covers the
2007 East Midlands Model show.
23rd September 2007
Minor change - I've changed the
SIG newsletters to a list to tidy things up...
14th September 2007
I've added a new section to the website -
Items for
sale/wanted. This will allow full SIG members to
list their surplus items for sale and also request items.

I've now uploaded photographs of the
Bird Of Prey which I built for the 2005
Scale Modelworld show. I've also uploaded
my

I've taken the opportunity to tidy up the
website a little. As a result, the SIG OOB
is no longer on the
Scale Modelworld page as it is already on
the SIG
OOB page. I have updated the list as
we now have designations for the Mig-17, MiG-21
and MiG-23 as operated by the USAF (and Haydn is
very very happy as a result!) I've also
fixed the problem with long loading time for
some pages - caused by the page loading the
whole images, not the thumbnails! I've also
uploaded
Ted Bayliss's latest model - his RF-4C
which is
64-1077 from the 10th TRW. |
8th September 2007
No new OOB yet, but I have now uploaded another batch of
SIG newsletters - you can find them
here. As regards what's going on, preparation for
Scale Modelworld is accelerating, and we're all working flat
out on new stuff for the display. Haydn has a list as
long as your arm (as long as you're not a chimpanzee of
course!); unfortunately he seems to be starting new stuff
faster than actually finishing anything!
I've got a TG-10C, T-46A, T-3A and T-6A almost ready for
paint, and am working on a C-22B, RQ-4A and U-28A which are
progressing slowly. Luckily all of the former are
either all- or mostly white, which helps! I'm also
working on a set of new baseboards, as I've promised to
cover half the display!
25th August 2007
I've now had chance to make up a rudimentary "backdrop"
for photographing my models. The first to be covered
is my
F-5E 72-406 which represents an aircraft from the
425TFTS at Luke AFB in 1977. Let me know what you
think - drop me a line
here!
19th August 2007
Check out
Alex Hunger's
Minuteman III diorama! Alex has been threatening to do
this for some time and it's fantastic to see it completed!
18th August 2007
I've just returned from holiday, hence the lack of any
updates to the website. However, I've now added the first of
the
SIG newsletters/journal back-issues which are in Adobe
Acrobat .pdf format. More will be added when I sort
out additional webspace!
9th August 2007
Added another of
Tim Mansfield's models to the OOB - this
time his
TF-102A. Also added
Ted
Bayliss's
O-2A.
7th August 2007
Added
Ted
Bayliss's
F-4C 63-7635 to the OOB. Also added the first of
Tim Mansfield's models. For those who don't know the
name, Tim joined us after seeing the 60th article in the IPMS magazine. More to follow soon, but for now, here
is Tim's
B-26K
28th July 2007
Added
Ted Bayliss's
C-124C to the OOB.
26th July 2007
Changed the banner so it now displays properly in
Amarillo Pro. Updated the
Scale Modelworld page to include a complete list of all
models planned - this is also now on the
SIG Order of Battle
page. Also added a page for
each SIG member, to be
populated later.
12th July 2007
Added the
membership application
form and also added a link to the
SIG Yahoo Group (note
that you need to be a member to access this group).
Added the following OOB pages:-
Added the "SIG Member" page for
Chris St Clair
10th July 2007
Added the "About
the SIG" page, which contains general information about
the site, together with a template page for each
SIG
member. Also added the "Resources"
section, which will have detail added over the next week
9th July 2007
First upload of the site, with basic templates for each
section. More detail will be added over the coming
weeks.
