Requirements Membership of a
country branch of the IPMS is a pre-requisite. However, as
long as you are an IPMS member, there is no requirement to
join the SIG as you do NOT have to be a SIG member of a SIG
to ask for technical advice or help with a project.
The key question is “what do you really get out of being
a SIG member ?” The answer is, the opportunity to come
together with like-minded modellers to further your
knowledge and modelling experience in a specific subject
area. Typically SIGs will only ‘come together’ when they put
on a display but will remain in contact at other times via
newsletter, email and Yahoo group (or telepathy if you have
been a longstanding member of this SIG!).
A restricted access site (restricted to USAF SIG members)
exists as a Yahoo Group. On this site there is a
section where pictures can be posted and a forum which
enables SIG members to keep in contact easily, post
questions and answers and inform fellow members of events
and information. When you have completed your membership
form and returned it, to the editorial address, we will
e-mail you with instructions on how to register and log on
to this site.
And just a reminder of
what the SIG is all about
We build models of anything and everything the U.S. Air
Force has ever operated or ever planned or speculated about
operating; aircraft, missiles, satellites, armoured
vehicles, soft skin vehicles, emergency vehicles,
engineering equipment, boats and trains. We cover the
regular Air Force, the Air National Guard, the Air Force
Reserve, the Civil Air Patrol and (though it cannot be
confirmed or denied) the C.I.A. and certain apparently civil
organisations.
Although in the last few years the SIG display has been
predominately 1/ 72nd, this is not exclusively so, and we
welcome modellers whatever their preferred scale.

Haydn Hughes
is the SIG Leader and also provider of much of the material
for the display itself - contact

Phil Butler is currently Editor of the SIG
Newsletter and Journal. The Newsletter appears four times a
year (January, April, July and October) and is normally four
or five pages. This is one of the main SIG communication
channels, conveying our planned show schedule, USAF gossip
and news, members sales and wants, any small articles or
reviews that can be included in the format and an overview
of the Journal. The Journal is normally 20+ pages with lots
of colour pictures, covering show reports and in depth
articles. This is available as a down load from the Yahoo
group four times a year. (February, May, August & December)
or on request as a hard copy on payment of a small
production charge (to be determined).
PLEASE NOTE: Due to personal circumstances, production of
the SIG Newletter and Journal is on indefinate hold,
although it is intended that the SIG Leader,
Haydn Hughes,
will produce the Newsletter in future.
